DESCRIPTION: WW - Lemania WWW Dirty Dozen, manual wind, 36mm x 47mm to lug tips, 18mm lug width, original chrome-plated base metal case with a stainless steel screw back marked with Ministry of Defence stock numbers and reference numbers as well as the hand engraved name and unit of the "original owner," original khaki strap, refinished black dial with white painted Arabic numerals and luminous pips, white painted broad arrow at 12 and large (P) at 6 for promethium which would have been the original luminous compound used, 15J cal 27A, Ministry of Defence case s#3513138, triple signed. This watch is one of the "Dirty Dozen," a group of twelve different Swiss watches commissioned by the British Ministry of Defence in the closing stages of World War II.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, light oxide to steelwork, light discoloration to plates; excellent refinished dial with scrape at center near hands which was painted over; relumed hands missing most of the material from the hour hand and some from the minute, sub seconds-hand is a modern replacement; unpolished case shows light wear, still retains some of its original factory finishing, base metal showing through in several areas most notably the case sides and backs of the lugs, several dings on lug backs and case back; crown shows very little wear; good plastic crystal.
